March 20, 2012 – We have four serious cases in rescue right now requiring expensive veterinary treatment. Violet Gray and Eeyore both needed leg amputations. Otto and Alice needed life-saving emergency surgery. If you can’t foster or adopt, consider making a donation toward Violet Gray, Eeyore, Otto and Alice’s treatment. Our rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. Thank you for thinking of and supporting these wonderful Weimaraners.

Poor Violet Gray, her owners’ other dog attacked her and instead of taking her to the vet, her owners called Animal Control to haul her away. Violet was brought in and our rescue was contacted. A wonderful volunteer helped pull and transport her partially to us in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was taken directly to the emergency clinic where an exam, x-rays, and blood work was all done. She had a bad break to her front right humerus as well as severe nerve damage and elevated liver enzyme levels. You can see regular updates about Violet and her long recovery on our Facebook page.
Eeyore

Eeyore is a 10 year-old absolutely adorable and lovable Weimaraner who came into rescue with Heartworm Disease. We treated that and he was thriving, until a small tumor popped up in his shoulder, causing him to limp. He has had many x-rays, an ultrasound, and a recent CT Scan to diagnose an encapsulated hemangiosarcoma tumor. Our options were euthanasia or amputation. We decided to go with the amputation in an attempt to give Eeyore some more quality time on this earth, as he has shown us nothing but a strong determination to keep going.
Otto
Otto
After baby Otto recovered from his life-saving heart surgery, he was neutered. Otto was a monorchid (one testicle had not descended) and so his neuter surgery was more complicated. During his neuter, the vet did a laryngeal exam and found that Otto had bilateral paralysis, thus needing another surgery. A few weeks ago, Otto went under the knife yet again, this time in his neck. Otto has been through so much in his short 7 months of life but we are confident he is on the road to recovery and a wonderful adoptive home.
Alice
Alice

Alice in Weimderland was left in an overnight box of a high-kill shelter just days before giving birth to her 10 puppies. She had several different parasites and had a difficult labor. She randomly developed a condition called bacterial peritonitis, a life-threatening illness for which she received an emergency operation. A week later, Alice is still in the hospital with a very large incision healing and a drain. She is stable but we need to make sure the infection is completely gone before she can return to her foster home.
